I'd like to start soliciting YOUR INPUT on what league rule changes we should make for next season (2009-10). Rule changes will be discussed and voted on at the league's pre-season meeting, which is held 1 week prior to the first night of bowling.

Changes and clarifications up for discussion are the following:
(None so far.)

Our league rules are posted here (PDF file).  USBC rules are available online here.

Are there any league rules you would like to see changed or clarified?
Send an email to the League Secretary.

Note: This page will be active all summer for your reference and convenience.

April 8, 2009 I have a suggestion for a rule change for the 2009-2010 bowling season. Rule # 14 to change from 100% handicap to 80% handicap between the bowler’s average and 220.

Resolution: At the 09-10 pre-season meeting on 9/2/09, we agreed to compromise, and change this calculation to 90% from 220.

April 17, 2009 We don't have a rule in the league rules that spells out the "fun night" Week 28. We do for Doubles on Week 27. So to cover everything equally, do we need a league rule for Week 28? Is the fun event always going to be a "9 pin" night, where we could put it in the rules? Or should we leave the event type flexible and document its rules only on the web site?

Resolution: At the 09-10 pre-season meeting on 9/2/09, we agreed not to document the Week 28 "fun night" in the league rules. Leave it open and flexible.

August 31, 2009 RE: Officer elections. Over the years it has been customary to nominate next season's officers at the end-of-season banquet, then have the actual vote at the league's pre-season meeting. However, officer training is done in August. Our vote has been coming after that. It would make more sense to have the new officers attend the training instead of the outgoing officers.  Therefore the voting should be done at the banquet, so that the new officers have all summer to make the transition and can attend the officers training at Plaza in August. This has not been a league rule, just a customary practice.

I am proposing that we change our practice (to have the officer election at the banquet instead of the pre-season meeting), and to document it in the league rules. Season 2009-10 would proceed as normal, and we would do things differently starting at the 2010 banquet.

Resolution: At the 09-10 pre-season meeting on 9/2/09, proposal was accepted.
