Date Submitted Suggestion
February 24, 2010  With the passing of the Unisys name in the Plymouth area this month (reverting back to "Burroughs"), and only three actual employees remaining as league members, it's probably due time to revisit a suggestion from a couple years ago to pick a new name for this league. A new name might also encourage other area residents to join a "fun" league, with a name that does not imply an affiliation with any particular employer or sponsor.

The prior suggestion had been the "Plymouth Bowling Club".  Taking that name further, another suggestion is the "Plymouth Happy Hour Bowling Club".

  • Does the league agree to change the name?

  • If so, are there any other suggestions?

Submitted March 6:  "Plaza Misfits"

February 24, 2010 Does the league wish to continue certification from USBC for the 2010-2011 season?

Pros:

  • Saves people the certification fee (currently $19).

  • No fee may help to attract more casual bowlers, thus helping to grow our league.

Cons:

  • No more patches, magnets, pins, decks of cards, etc for Achievement Awards.

  • Bowlers wishing to compete in sanctioned tournaments would have to get their qualifying certification through another league.

April 7, 2010 Requesting an additional "fun night" at the end of the first half (i.e. last bowling night in December). This would shift out all remaining weeks by 1 week.

Note from Secretary: We can make our schedule be whatever we want - it just needs to be written in to the league's 2010-2011 contract with Plaza.  But also consider the following:

  • Cost. The "fun night" at the end of the schedule is currently at no cost to our bowlers, courtesy of Plaza Lanes. Plaza may not be able or willing to provide another "free" night of bowling to our league.  Is it acceptable to everyone if we pay our own lineage fees that night?

  • Averages and scores.  Scores from fun nights do not and should not affect your average nor team standings.
