Lucky Strike News  Our first installment of Lucky Strike was played on Week 2. The Lucky Strike ball will be thrown on a different lane than your own!! Be prepared to bring your ball to the designated lane. Also, remember to write your name on the tickets you drop in the pot. USBC Achievement Awards Jim Brookins earned a 200 Game Award rolling a 202 in Game 1 Dennis Lally earned a 175 Game Award rolling a 182 in Game 2 Other News and Information NOTE: I made some changes to how the handicaps were being used for the weekly/season achievements to reflect ONLY bowlers that have an established average.  Standing were NOT affected by these changes. Statistics that were affected by these changes are the following: Last Week’s Top Scores Handicap Game & Series Weekly Game Over Average Season High Scores Handicap Game & Series Season Game Over Average Most Improved Averages Watch the clock!! Lanes open for practice at 5:15pm, or should be open. If not, ask the counter to turn them on. Practice time is 15 minutes, and the lanes should switch over to game play at 5:30. Our contract with Plaza says we should be off the lanes (at least done with Game 3) by 7:15pm. If you bring in new bowler (sub or replacement), please please PLEASE give your secretary advance notice. It takes time to look up their average, get their handicap, enter them in the scoring system, and go over the certification card with them. I'd much rather do that in advance, instead of taking up your team's time and mine (and our opponents) and delaying us all from bowling. Thanks for your cooperation.

Pre-Season Meeting – August 22, 2013 Pre-Season Headlines:  We have 12 teams this year! Great job recruiting everyone and a warm welcome to all the new bowlers. Meeting Agenda: Team Roster check Verify your bowler information is correct Update contact information with league officers Recruit for open spots / new teams House rule reminders for 2013/2014 League rule changes; discuss and vote Applicable only if changes have been made for 2013/2014 USBC is changing the awards program. Brainstorm ideas on what we would like to get in place of standard awards USBS will be surveying all officers for what the league bowlers are interested in. These things may be any of the following: earn points to get prizes gift cards start and/or of season gifts donate to charity (money that would otherwise be spent on awards) switching to single lifetime awards Ect. Gather your thoughts and bring them to the meeting to discuss. Discuss any other concerns you have as we move along with the new season. House issues to be addressed Party dates/times Dates off for holidays Ect. Officer Elections: Nominations for a new league secretary were made at the 2013 end of season banquet. Ryan Marino was nominated to take over for June Cannon who may not be with us the whole season. He has accepted the position. No new nominations (challengers) were received over the summer or brought up at the meeting. None of the current officers expressed interest in stepping down. Therefore, this year's officers will be the same as last year with the exception of Ryan Marino becoming the new league secretary for 2013-2014. Team roster check: Discussed who was leaving, and how many open spots we have. Looks like we have 9 active teams and one Bye/Blind team. Still have one Vacant spot that can be filled. The Bye team can also be filled. Please ask friends, neighbors, your kids' friends' parents, etc to see if anyone you know would be interested in joining us.  House rule reminders: Reviewed the house rules with all league menbers present. I can get a copy of the house rules for you if you need it. League Rules: Discussed the issues/concerns that we had last year with the house/lanes.Changes will be incorporated into this year's league rules document, which is accessible from this web site's home page.  Anything else? Questions?  Santo suggested adding a new game, in addition to Lucky Strike and Mystery. This is a weekly over-average jackpot, based on highest scratch score over average. We discussed how the game would operate ($1 per game, Game 1 and/or Game 2), and voted. Accepted. See Santo each week to participate. Rules and results will be posted on the Games page here.
